Getting trapped in head voice or falsetto disrupts the “one voice” effect that we’re typically striving for; the disruption in coordination can also cause premature vocal fatigue by creating a sense that we’re losing control (hello, performance anxiety 👋🏽😣), which often triggers a reflexive compensatory response of squeezing harder at the throat 😩. The remedy: Learn to sing in a way that is connected from “chest voice” to “head voice”. This requires establishing a HEALTHY sense of pressure and supple muscle tension within the body. In this video, I use a voiced “V” sound. Think of it as vocal weight lifting 💪🏽😉
