Are you ready for the loudest band in the WORLD?

Deep Purple is recognized by The Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s “loudest band.” In 1972 the band played a show at the London Rainbow Theatre and ROCKED so hard that their sound reached an incredible 117 decibels. Three people were knocked unconscious as a result of the musical onslaught!

The band is considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock although their musical approach changed over the years. They started off more as a progressive rock band and then shifted to a heavier sound in 1970.

The band has recorded 20 studio albums and have sold over 100 million copies worldwide.

They along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, have been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early to mid-seventies".

The band has featured some incredible musicians over the years including the great David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes. They have had several line-up changes along with an eight-year hiatus. The line-ups from 1968–1976 are commonly labelled Mark I, II, III and IV. In total, the band has had 14 different members through the years.
