Some pop is supposed to feel light and disposable - catchy but frivolous. As we've watched them progress, Lukas Graham have managed to maintain a more enticing balance. The music on '4 (The Pink Album)' is fun but weighty - a little bit personal and a little bit philosophical. That feels right given the heartfelt way that singer/writer Lukas Forchhammer interprets his own lyrics this time round. He's traveled a distance since the Danish band introduced themselves to the world with 2016's "7 Years." Atwood mag called it "a journey of self-discovery." Forchhammer put partying behind him and had a child; the warmth of family floats between these tunes. The introspection that marks the program is also evident in the performances of "Home Movies," a collab with Mickey Guyton on '4') and "Never Change." Catchy, yes. But thoughtful above all. Get a taste and go see them; the band is on tour this spring and summer.
