Fix Nasal Voice - Improve Vocal Tone - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy

Many people have no idea how to fix the nasally sound that they have in their voice.

And most of the time, the higher up they go in their range, the more nasally they become, and the more shrill their voices sound.

Obviously this is not the most pleasant sound, but I want to remind us of one very important factor.

Many many famous singers have stamped their signature with the sound of nasality, such as:

Donna Summer

Celine Dion

Stevie Wonder (to some extent)

Klaus Meine (to some extent)

Lou Gramm (to some extent)

Rihanna (to some extent)

Miley Cyrus (to some extent)

Bob Dylan

And the list goes on.

Does this mean that all singing with nasality is wrong?

To some it is a matter of taste while to others it can be annoying and undesirable.

In addition, oftentimes with vocal coaches, nasality gets confused with mask, and mask with nasality. While there may be some overlap, mask is different than nasality, and nasality is different than mask, which I identify and explain in this video.

While both mask and nasality can allow a person to pare down a belted sound in their upper register, nasality actually inhibits range farther up the scale, while mask allows for freedom in the upper registers, once open throat technique is established.

So if this is of interest to you, come along for a ride and learn how to fix your nasal-sounding voice and improve your vocal tone.
