Elton’s concert at the MEO Arena in Lisbon, Portugal, on December 11, 2016, was close enough to Christmas, apparently, for Elton to treat the audience to a bit of ‘Jingle Bells’ during the piano solo intro to ‘Rocket Man’. Listen for it at the 2:28 mark and elsewhere, but don’t you dare skip over the rest of this beautiful instrumental, which contains original themes from his amazingly creative mind, any one of which could be the basis for another hit song, as well as a stunning showcase of his honky-tonk piano skills during the second half of the 8-minute improv.
