Vocal Coach Reacts To Melissa Etheridge - I'm The Only One - Live - Ken Tamplin

Singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge is known for her mixture of confessional lyrics, pop-based folk-rock, and raspy, smoky vocals.

Etheridge's interest in music began early when she started playing guitar at 8. She went on to participate iin a musical/dance group in high school.

After high school she attended Berklee College of Music and played the club circuit around Boston. After 3 semesters she dropped out and headed to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music.

She ended up being discovered at a bar in Pasadena California and her self-titled debut album Melissa Etheridge was released in 1988.

The album became an underground success and peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard 200.

She has gone on to win 2 Grammys along with an Academy award for "Best Original Song".

Etheridge is also a breast cancer survivor after being diagnosed back in 2004.
