Joan Jett Live Reaction Mashup - Vocal Coach Ken Tamplin

Joan Jett got her first guitar at age 13 but quit taking lessons when she was told girls don’t play rock and roll.

Fortunately for all of us, she didn’t listen.

She got her start in music 2 years later at 15 with the all-female band The Runaways. Though not a huge success in the US, were hugely popular abroad and produced some iconic rock songs.

After the band broke up, Joan pursued a solo career but that too proved to be no easy task.

Her first solo album was rejected 23 times by record labels before she finally decided to start her own. She co-founded Blackheart Records in 1980 with producer Kenny Laguna.

Joan later went on to form the band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and they remain active to this day.

Today I’ll be reacting to some of Joan’s classics both from her days with The Runaways as well as after.
