If English Isn't My First Language, How Can I Sing English Well? Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
While many dialects and accents can share some commonality, there are also some very distinct characteristics of various languages.
In this video, I discuss and showcase how to sing in English without an accent.
For example: as we travel the world we find that Asian languages are very different than Aryan languages, which are also very different than Latin languages which again are also very different than Middle Eastern languages.
However, there is one way we can overcome these challenges when wanting to learn to singing in English, or even perfect your singing in your own native language.
Through "Open Throat Technique" and understanding the fundamentals of the original 5 Italian (Latin) vowel sounds, we can learn to use those vowels to have a "universal language" of singing. In this case, English.
As I cover in this video, I want to share a funny story with you.
A couple of years ago our family moved to Florence Italy. Florence is one of the most artistic cities in all of Italy, if not Europe.
Every weekend we would go out on the town and hear all of these bands that were singing in perfect English. (no kidding). But when they spoke from the stage they could hardly speak a word of English.
The irony is this: while they could not "speak" in English, they could "sing" in English flawlessly.
This is my case in point.
If you listen to the famed Swedish opera singer Jussi Bjorling singing Nessun Dorma, you cannot detect any accent. (yes, he is singing in Italian).
But Swedes close down their vowels very hard while Italians have a very open sound.
We can learn to do this in any language, covering these vowel sounds into the English language, so that little or no accent is detected.
With that said, I hope you find this video useful. :-)
