In this video, I tackle one of THE Toughest Rock Songs to Nail. No kidding. This one is tough! How do you think I did?

Don't laugh at this, but I sort of feel like "Dream On" has become the "National Anthem" of how singers are graded on singing "The High Note!"

So, of course, I have to take it on! We wouldn't be Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy if we didn't take on some of the most difficult songs to sing in all of Rock and Pop history.

I would like to make some additional comments about Steven Tyler's voice over the years.

I literally grew up on early Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and so forth, and I distinctly remember trying to sing this song when I was 10 years old! The song came out in 1973 and I was born in 1963.

I never in 1 million years thought that I would be doing a vocal demonstration of this song all these years later.

Some of the amazing songs that most of you know and maybe even some songs you might not know from this era would be the following:

Dream On (of course)

Walk This Way

Sweet Emotion

Back In The Saddle

Toys In The Attic

Same Old Song And Dance

Train Kept A-Rollin'

Last Child...

And so many others!

But there was one thing all of these songs had in common.

At this time of Steven's singing career, it seemed as though he basically had two voices.

A mid-voice belting register and high falsetto screams.

But his upper mid-voice and the range that he developed later was very different than this era.

And if you listen, you can see how Steven worked on his voice over the years to be able to sing some of the incredible hits that the band became known for later in their career such as:

Cryin'

I Don't Want To Miss A Thing

Crazy

Angel

Jaded

Love In An Elevator

Janie's Got A Gun

Rag Doll...

And many, many others.

So I decided to throw my hat in the ring and try my hand at "Dream On".

But of course, in usual KTVA style, I decided to sing that high note not just once at the end of the song (like the original), but twice, and take it up a full step (2 notes) in range.
