Aydin Esen String Improv 4-23-1987 Ithaca, NY with tags rick beato, aydin esen, jazz piano, modern classical improvisation, keith jarrett, chick corea, stravinsky, bartok

This is a string improvisation played on a Kurzweil K250 which was the first ever sampling synthesizer. It is one of the most intense and beautiful pieces I have ever heard. Aydin was 24 here and I am uploading it today because it's his birthday! I have listened to this for 30 years and hear new things every time I do. This piece is the reason my son Dylan can hear the kind of chords he's able to instantly describe. I played this for him every day for the first 2 years of his life. Every sound he knows. It is one of the greatest improvisations I have ever heard. It's a lot to take in but the more you listen to it, the more you realize the scope and incredible depth of it.
