Hey guys!! What’s up?
Well today it’s the classic rock anthem “What’s Up” by the 90s female rockers: 4 Non Blondes.
The band was fronted by the GREAT Linda Perry who wrote the hit single BEFORE they got they first record deal.
Interestingly enough the title of the song is not in the lyrics. The chorus refrain is actually "What's Going On," but that's the name of a 1971 Marvin Gaye R&B classic, so the song was instead called "What's Up."
4 Non Blondes went on to be signed by Interscope following a performance where they opened for Primus. They were given a record deal at a time where labels were looking for authentic FEMALE ROCKERS!
The song went on to be a top 40 hit and got a lot of play on MTV, which was still playing videos at the time. The clip helped the album sell over 6 million copies and carry it to Platinum.
Linda Perry left the band in 1994 and went on to achieve much more with a stellar writing and production career after the band broke up.
To date “What's Up?" ranks number 94 on VH1's 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders
So here we go. Check out Kati's version and let me know “What’s Up”.
