What Makes This Singer Great? Brad Delp - Boston

Brad Delp has been called “the nicest guy in rock and roll” and his velvety, smooth voice is impossible not to recognize.

Known primarily as the lead singer of Boston, Delp first met Tom Scholz in 1969 when he was looking for a lead singer.

Eventually they formed a group called Mother’s Milk which signed to Epic Records before later changing their name to Boston.

They released their self-titled debut album in 1976 with Brad providing the lead and all backing harmony vocals, including all layered vocal overdubs.

Boston went on to sell more than 20 million records with Brad co-writing some of the bands most popular tunes including “Smokin”.

In addition to his singing and songwriting, he was also a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, harmonica and keyboards.

Today we’ll take a look at Brad performing a couple of different songs live and I’ll share what stands out for me. I want to know what you thought made Brad great also, so please be sure to share your feedback in the comments.
