Vocal Coach Reacts to Paul McCartney and Wings - Band On The Run - Jet - Live - Ken Tamplin

The Beatles were masters at using tempo changes to create incredible songs and Paul McCartney continued with his skillful use of them when he ventured off on his own.

I’ll be reacting to a couple of tunes he did with his band Wings and the first song is "Band on the Run".

The song was apparently inspired by a comment George Harrison had made back when the Beatles were still together and was in reference to the band trying to break free from their management situation.

The song was released in 1974 and was a huge success for the band and was Paul's third chart-topping single since leaving the Beatles.

It went on to be certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of over one million copies.

We’ll also be checking out an earlier performance of McCartney and Wings singing “Jet” which was released prior to “Band on the Run”.

The inspiration for the song has varied from reports of it being about McCartney’s lab, to a pony, as well as it being about experiences he had when meeting his wife Linda.

The song ended up reaching number 7 on both American and British charts and has become one of the band’s most popular tunes.
