"I wanted this song to have an element of something Tori Amos did on To Venus and Back, where she added industrial sounds to bring a harshness to the beauty of these gentle guitar and synth flute parts. The song is about watching someone else be sick, and wondering if that’s going to be you in the blink of an eye. The anxiety of approaching death haunts me a lot. It’s this weird struggle between being attracted to it and scared of it, trying to find the balance of beauty in life and fear."

Looking at you
Watching the shriveled flower you bloomed
I feel it too
Inside the gray light of my room
Am I just like you?
Am I gonna be there way too soon?
‘cause I see the noose
it follows me closely whatever I do
and I can’t lose it
the feeling I’m going down
I can’t lose it
I’m watching my mother drown
Something feels loose
I’m falling to pieces from one little screw
I cry to the moon
And beg it to change me or rip me in two
There’s pieces of you
They cover my body it’s so hard to chew
And I see the noose
It’s stuck to my fingers, I’ve pulled at the glue
and I can’t lose it
the feeling I’m going down
I can’t lose it
I’m watching my mother drown
