I have to be honest. When I first heard this song in the early 80's (83 I think?), it didn't impress me.

Not because it wasn't a great song at all! But because in the early 80's, the music that I was into was 70's rock and 80's metal.

So Tears For Fears and songs like Mad World weren't on my radar.

It wasn't until I heard Adam Lambert's interpretation of this song on American Idol back in 2009 (season 8) that I had a two eyebrow raise of... Wow! (and of course Gary Jules' version)

I said to myself then that someday I would cover this song (it only took me 14 years to get around to it, ha, ha)!

And let's not forget, Adam Lambert did not win American Idol.

The reason I say this is because when you are passed by and not acknowledged for your hard work and talent, this DOES NOT MEAN that you do not deserve it, and that it won't come to you in due season.

I have seen this over and over and over again.

I hope you like my version of this deeply moving, melancholy, sobering classic.
