Lauryn Hill as lead vocalist for the Fugees was just one of those timeless voices we couldn't resist taking on.

Gabriela and I chose "Killing Me Softly."

Originally, Gabby did not want to do it because she felt she would not be able to do it justice.

I assured her, and encouraged her that she could.

So we worked the song up, line by line, phrase by phrase. Sometimes a word at a time (because Gabby is Czech and conjuring things like this in a foreign (to her) language can be very challenging.

What fascinated me about the Fugees is they were one of the very first groups to combine hip hop with melodic soul.

Lauren Hill slayed the song, which was originally sung by Roberta Flack.
