Jonas Kaufmann and his long-time collaborator, pianist Helmut Deutsch, sit down to watch and react to some of their past performances, in celebration of Kaufmann’s new album Doppelgänger.
Jonas Kaufmann's latest studio effort brings Schumann's Dichterliebe and Kerner-Lieder to life with unparalleled emotional depth, featuring Helmut Deutsch at the piano. The DVD includes the celebrated theatrical production of Schubert’s Schwanengesang (Swan Song) at Park Avenue Armory in New York, directed by Claus Guth. The album also contains never-before-heard bonus tracks from the private archives of Jonas Kaufmann, featuring a recording of Dichterliebe from his student days in 1993.
