How Do You Prepare Vocally For A Tour? Ken Tamplin and Gabriela Gun - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy

Most people have no idea of the intricacies of correctly preparing for a tour.

#1. Physical condition. What is your physical condition? If you can barely run down the driveway and back and think you're going to play a great one-hour set, you have another thing coming.

#2 Pacing yourself and "the set". There is an art to knowing how to strategically place songs back-to-back to maximize stamina and not "over-sing" so as to not get yourself in trouble. AND, if you do get yourself in trouble, what you can do to get yourself out of it and back on track.

#3 Maintaining discipline and regimens leading up to performance time is critical. The voice has a biological clock and likes to be warmed up at the same time every day, so warming up at the same time as showtime is key.

#4 Not skipping warm-ups before shows: be consistent with what you did prior to the tour and maintain that throughout the tour

#5 Not letting distractions keep you from maintaining discipline in your workouts.
