Gracie Abrams - The Making of 'Risk' (Vevo Footnotes)
When Gracie Abrams and her bestie Audrey Hobert began writing "Risk" at home one afternoon, the distinctive way the singer was strumming her guitar helped craft the tune's skeleton. Her producer, Aaron Dessner of The National, thought it hit the bullseye just the way it was, and used the strumming to form the track's personality. Hobert directed the video as well, and in our Footnotes chat says that the singer "threw herself into this character." Abrams wanted to have this song feel both "conversational and dramatic," and when she freaks out in that party scene, both vibes are in the air - job well done. Find out how many cakes were crushed in our exclusive interview with both director and singer.
