One of the things I love most about Kayla is that she is far from shy from taking on big challenges.
In fact, it was pretty funny. We would be sitting in my studio and I would say "What song do you want to conquer next?"
Her answers would always surprise me. Because, to be quite honest, she and I think a lot alike when it comes to challenges and taking on difficult musical pieces to sing.
One minute she wants to take on Dio, the next minute she wants to take on Cornell, then Chris Stapleton, then Rod Stewart, then Janis Joplin, then George Michael, Joe Lynn Turner, then Terence Trent D'Arby.
(Do you see a pattern here? Ha ha!)
Her artistry is not interested in the "typical" but the extraordinary.
Because she is extraordinary.
So, on this day, I asked her what song we would like to tee up next and she said anything by Lou Gramm... Particularly the song Urgent!
Me, always up for the challenge, said "OK let's do this!"
