Deep Purple - Highway Star - Ian Gillan - ISOLATED VOCALS - Analysis and Tutorial
Ian Gillan came from an era that sort of started the most amazing trend of singers through Deep Purple.
I’d love to hear which Deep Purple singer was your favorite and why. Please share with me in the comments!
Ian is a great example of someone who maturated their voice over time as in the beginning he really only had two voice types: chesty, belty stuff and then a lot of head voice falsetto.
In this video I’m going to show you how we can achieve his sound as we start off lightly and work our way through the passaggio. We’ll also break down the recording and see how he created that big sound using multiple vocals.
