This past April we all hunkered down together for a week or so in Richmond, VA. The idea was to reimagine some of the tracks off of Aperture, with a clean slate and no rules or direction. I remember feeling pretty uncertain whether or not we’d be able to pull it off with the time given and was genuinely worried that the trip in itself could end up feeling like a waste. Any doubts I had were quickly snuffed out as we got to work. These handful of days were maybe the most enjoyable I’ve ever had in the studio. Ideas were explored, new instruments were picked up, and beauty was made. With no huge goal or expectation hanging over our heads it gave us the ability to relax into the process and trust each other’s instincts as we uncovered more and more. It was a cathartic release that gives me goosebumps even thinking about it. Not only were we very happy with the results, but we learned a lot about ourselves in the process and how to better approach future and more ambitious projects. We love creating music and sharing what we make with you all more than anything in the world! Thank you for continuing to support us and allow us to do what we do.
