Acclaimed singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding knows how to connect. She was recently recognised by the music industry having secured the most entries for any British female artist on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart this century. Overall her songs and videos secure billions of streams worldwide. She is also an environmental activist, formally acknowledged in the UN Environment Global Ambassador role she has held since 2017, but privately held as a passion since childhood. In this exclusive address to One Young World she tells the story of how she built the confidence to speak out on the climate emergency, to hang out with some of the greatest scientists working in Earth Science today and why she felt moved to ask more questions on behalf of her fans. Today, wherever possible, Ellie shares her platform and stage with activists and climate scientists. She considers them the heroes of her generation. ‘My time on earth coincides with an extraordinary group of people facing down threat and opportunity.
