Starship - JANE - Mickey Thomas - Isolated Vocals - Analysis and Tutorial

Mickey Thomas is probably one of the greatest high-range rock singers of all-time and is one my greatest influences. I get asked by many of you how I got to where I am and Mickey has certainly had a big impact on my musical journey.

Which artists have had the greatest impact on you as a singer? I’d love to hear from you so please share in the comments!

One of the first things we’ll see as we look at Mickey’s isolated vocal stems is how he just brought it right out of the gate, slamming a B flat as his first note for the tune.

In addition to his phenomenal pitch, Mickey was a master at mixed voice and I’ll break down how you can achieve this by first building your head voice with a nice, bright ping.

We'll also have some fun with the track as I show you what effects we could add to embellish the song and make it sound a little bigger.
