hello everyone !! hope this finds you well wherever you are :-)

as some of you will know i’m currently touring north america with my good friends the once and stu larsen . we’re only a week in and we’re having a wonderful time so far ! we flew in to atlanta and have been working our way up the east coast . i’m writing this backstage at summer stage in central park …. no big deal haha .

before the tour started we all got together to think of cool ways of documenting our travels and giving you guys a little insight in to what we’re up to .

we came up with this …..

every week (hopefully) we will be posting a little video of us all playing a cover song . the idea is that each song will in some way be linked to the place we’re playing in - for example it could be the artist/bands hometown or the song will reference the city in some way or it may have a personal story attached to it .

this first one is from nashville . its a song called angel from montgomery (confusing …) and its by one of my favourite artists of all time john prine .

the reason i chose this song is this ….

six or seven years ago i came to nashville for the first time to do some writing with people . it was good fun and a great learning experience but also a bit of a weird time as i didn’t really know any one so i found myself with time to kill .

i wanted to take advantage of being in nashville and so one (really really ) hot day i grabbed my guitar and decided that my mission was to meet john prine and play him some songs …. whether he liked it or not … god that sounds really creepy …..

i made several school boy errors . i didn’t bring a map or any sun block and i had completely underestimated the walk . i ended up spending the best part of three hours wandering around and getting very lost on music row .

when i finally turned up at john prines record label i was a sweaty and sunburnt mess but elated that i’d finally made it . i pressed the buzzer and to my disappointment found out that john was in chicago .

i still hope that i can one day meet john but for now this will have to do .

as always we rely on you guys entirely to like , comment and most importantly share the video if you can . thank you for taking the time to read and watch .
