Nathaniel Rateliff - Time Stands (Studio Performance)

You could say Nathaniel Rateliff wears his heart on his sleeve. More accurately, Rateliff wears tattoos on his sleeves; his heart shines through his voice. Early on, The New York Times compared the former church-choir singer to Johnny Cash, and indeed there were some parallels thanks to the tough 'n' tender sentiments both are experts at. Wider success, however, found Rateliff leading The Night Sweats, the Americana-tinged, R&B-smitten outfit that produced “S.O.B.” That track flew up the alternative charts back in 2015. Now, operating on his own, Rateliff continues his exploration of bluesy-folk, or is it folksy-blues? Either way, the new ‘Time Stands’ EP is super strong, a fantastic evolution, especially since it reframes Rateliff's voice (not to mention deft guitar playing) in a new light. Even at first listen, “Time Stands” immediately induces a comfy nostalgia.
