This video teaches you how to Learn Solfege or Solfeggio using the two methods used. Fixed Do teaches Perfect Pitch while Movable teaches Relative Pitch. The Fixed and Moveable Do methods are both used for sight singing and ear training. They are needed even if you have Perfect or Absolute Pitch. Fixed Do syllables correspond to the 12 chromatic notes used in Western Music where Do is always C Natural. Movable Do is similar to Relative Pitch where Do changes according to the key you are in. In this video I focus on the seven main note names or syllables and have a number of exercises to help you become familiar with the flow of sounds. This is the first in a multi part series where I will explore in great depth the differences between the 2 methods and how to use both equally well.

The 7 basic syllables:

Fixed Do = Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Si Do

Movable Do = Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do
