Going To California | Led Zeppelin | Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy

Who doesn’t love a great Led Zeppelin tune? Well today it's coming from me.

I wanted to share with you my version the Zeppelin classic “Going to California”.

This ballad was originally released in 1971 from their fourth album Led Zeppelin IV, Rolling Stone has ranked it the number 11 song on the 40 greatest Led Zeppelin songs of all-time.

Offering a folk-style sound, John Paul Jones played mandolin on the original track with Jimmy Page on acoustic guitar and Robert Plant on lead vocals.

The song apparently was originally called “Guide to California” and was written about California earthquakes which some band members and crew experienced when traveling to LA mix the album. Robert Plant has said of the song that it summed up a period of his life when he was 22.

The band used to play the song during acoustic sets and Robert Plant continued to perform it on his solo tours in the late 80s.

I hope you enjoy my version of the song and please feel free to share your feedback!
