Down On The Corner - Creedence Clearwater Revival cover - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
When I was a kid, there were a few bands that really moved me.
Creedence was definitely one of those groups.
I'll never forget the first time I heard Down On The Corner.
I believe I was either six or seven years old. (which makes sense because I believe that album released in 1969).
I immediately became a big Creedence fan.
Here I am all these years later finally getting around to do a cover of one of my all-time favorite songs.
One of the things I find most interesting about Creedence, is when you look on the back of the album cover with so many smash hits like:
Born On The Bayou
Down On The Corner
I Put A Spell On You
Lookin' Out My Back Door
Run Through The Jungle
Bad Moon Rising
Have You Ever Seen The Rain
Suzie Q
Travelin' Band
Who'll Stop The Rain
Proud Mary
Up Around The Bend
Fortunate Son
I Heard It Through The Grapevine
And may many other songs.
But here's the kicker:
Most all of these songs were written by the band (mostly John Fogerty), engineered by John Fogerty, guitars by John Fogerty, mixed by John Fogerty and recorded in his studio.
If you look at a pop album today, ONE SONG could be written by a half dozen people (usually not even the "artist," mixed and engineered by several people and mastered by someone else, recorded in multiple studios.
Man have times changed.
I hope you like me rendition. I had fun playing all the parts - (except drums), recording mixing and mastering all the instruments and vocals in my studio :-)
