Christine McVie, the singer, songwriter and keyboardist who became the biggest hitmaker for Fleetwood Mac, died on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022. She was 79. In just half an hour, she wrote one of the bandâs most beloved songs, âSongbird,â a sensitive ballad that for years served as the bandâs closing encore in concert. In 2019, the bandâs leader, Mick Fleetwood, said that âSongbirdâ is the piece he wanted played at his funeral, âto send me off fluttering.â
