La cantante explicó que era súper importante conocer gente en la industria que utiliza su música y su voz para contar historias innovadoras sobre la cultura mexicoamericana. De hecho, Pluma recientemente se ha convertido en el abanderado del género corrido tumbado, que está explotando en popularidad. For her regional Mexican music debut, Becky G and her producer Edgar Barrera enlisted Peso Pluma to co-write “Chanel,” a track in which both artists use their peculiar voices to tell a harrowing story about lost love in the Mexican neighborhoods of Los Angeles. “We had this concept of two people that were not made for each other anymore, and everything started to flow,” Becky G said in an exclusive interview with Footnotes. “We finished everything in like an hour.” The singer explained that it was imperative for her to collaborate with people in the industry that are using their music and their voices to tell innovative stories about Mexican-American culture. Pluma, of course, has recently become the torchbearer of the corrido tumbado genre, which is exploding in popularity.
